BHCU Teams Up with City Team Chester

Can we say that we are cautiously optimistic that the COVID-19 vaccine will enable us to get back to a new normal? Unfortunately, there are still those in our community that have challenges that transcend the pandemic, like domestic abuse or poverty.  Organizations like City Team Chester make a real difference in our community for those in crisis. The BHCU Kids Foundation share a similar purpose and demonstrated their support in a big way (with a big check).

City Team Chester’s new initiative, Turning Point, is a transitional housing program for young women in crisis, providing a bridge to independent living and ensuring a loving community atmosphere for women and children in need. They offer resources to help them get on their feet and achieve financial stability, including a 12-month residency program, employment coaching, and training to build budgeting and financial literacy.  This mission is perfectly aligned with the BHCU Kids Foundation which seeks to provide resources and support for at-risk youth in Delaware County.

On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, BHCU Kids’ Foundation Board member Ryan Conte presented Nancy Craskey, Director of Development for City Team Chester, with a check for $2,000.00. The donation comes from funds raised by the BHCU Kids’ Foundation Second Annual Golf Classic held last November. Proceeds from the event benefitted BHCU Kids Foundation Hope for Children Fund which assists abused and neglected children in Delaware County.

“We are thrilled to be able to support such an important program in our community.” Says Ryan. “City Team Turning Point is a new program that looks to support young women and provide resources to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Anything we can do to strengthen this program is a huge win.”

The BHCU Kids’ Foundation was established and chartered in 2019; the BHCU Kids Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization administered by a volunteer Board of Directors. The BHCU Kids Foundation began with a simple mission of strengthening the Delaware County community by seeking to provide programs and support for our most at-risk youth, with the full knowledge and understanding that they are our future.
