Gary Golden's Bio
Gary Golden is the CEO of BHCU, a Pennsylvania State Charted Credit Union that serves the residents and business owners of Delaware County. Mr. Golden has more than thirty-five years of experience in Retail and Commercial Banking helping institutions design and execute deposit acquisition and investment policy, asset growth strategies, credit analytics and asset recovery efforts. In his current role, he focuses on delivering a value proposition for the credit union’s members that promote their financial independence and raise their standard of living. He has served in numerous roles in lending, collections and as an NASD Registered Representative, giving him a unique insight into the needs of today’s consumers.
Mr. Golden began his career in financial services as an Account Executive in 1985. He has worked with both community and super-regional banks as well as national and international financial services organizations. In 2004 he was named as the founding executive of ING Direct’s Commercial Property Finance Group. Subsequently in 2008, in response to the residential mortgage industry crisis, he assumed responsibility for bank’s national default servicing efforts. In this role he developed and executed strategic initiatives that established the company as an industry leader in lossmitigation and loan-modification programs. Following Capital One’s acquisition of ING Direct in 2012, Mr. Golden led the integration efforts of ING DIRECT and Capital One’s mortgage-origination businesses. He transitioned to the credit union industry with BHCU in 2013 to pursue his goal of providing value added financial services to local communities and promoting the importance of financial independence.
Mr. Golden is a graduate of Widener University with a B.S. in Financial Management and a Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning and Taxation. He also completed the course of study at the ING Business School in Heemskerk, Netherlands resulting in a certification in Economic Valuations and Managerial Accounting. He is the Founder and Chairman of the BHCU Kid’s Foundation assisting at-risk youth in the community. He previously served on other non-profit organization boards which focus on children and families in need and has been heavily involved in local youth sports programs for over 25 years.
